EIR - Trauma Image Repository
Web
Description
The UAMS Trauma Image Repoistory (TIR) is a conduit for medical images associated with trauma for 80+ medical facilities in Arkansas and bordering states. When physicians determine a patient requires a higher level of care then their facility can provide, they request patient transfers, and imaging associated with the initial assessment is sent to TIR through secure channels. TIR then redirects the imaging to the receiving treatment center, which enables providers there to start evaluation patients before they arrive. TIR handles a broad range of information collectively called images, using the standardized Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) protocol. Examples include images (photos, X-rays or CT scans, for example), videos and documents, which physicians using remote access can view or download through secure channels to evaluate patients at a workstation or on a laptop or tablet.
