Hand Hygiene Observation Tool
Web
Description
The Hand Hygiene Observation Tool project enables UAMS to efficiently and effectively monitor and report on hand-washing in patient treatment areas, reinforcing its commitment to patient safety. The project combines an online observation form that works on handy mobile devices with a database that receives information from hand hygiene coaches, then provides reporting on results. Hand hygiene coaches observe hand-washing behavior and record specific compliant and non-compliant incidents on the form, which feeds the database. Records of compliance are stored in the database, but non-compliant incidents trigger an email to the non-compliant employee and his or her supervisor. Supervisors then follow up on the internal Web site to record whether the non-compliance(s) resulted in an employee disciplinary notice. Site administrators can define and generate custom reports on the Web site.
