Plainpages.org is a revenue-producing, public Web site operated by the UAMS Center for Health Literacy (CHL). It offers plain language services to providers, health systems, the health insurance industry, health agencies and individuals. Plain language services close the gap between the level of written/media health information and individuals’ abilities to understand and act on it. CHL services include assessing the readability of text, making plain language edits to improve readability and Spanish translation. At plainpages.org, internal and external clients see the costs of services and can enter information about their proposed projects. Site administrators review the details, create estimates, assign the work when clients approve and track progress on their work through completion and delivery. The site also processes clients' credit card payments for CHL services. The final step is the delivery of a client satisfaction survey, which the CHL uses to make improvements.
