Code Blue
Web
Description
The Code Blue project is an internal Web site that enables UAMS employees to report patient emergencies and describe the locations where specialized emergency teams are needed. The site passes entries made on the following five desktop icons to a third-party vendor, which is responsible for messaging from that point forward. Each icon provides dropdown lists to pinpoint locations and options to provide details, including a message up to 100 characters. The five desktop icons and their purposes are : - Code Blue - Summons a team, which includes a physician, when a patient is having an emergency such as heart attack or is not breathing - Rapid Response - Summons a team that does not include a physician when a patient is having an emergency - Stork - Notifies the Stork team when an infant has a medical emergency, including known complications during childbirth - Acute Stroke - Summons a team when a patient is having a stroke while in transit to the ED or in a nursing unit - Crash Cart - Enables providers to order replacement crash carts and list the location and type of cart needed The vendor contact is Tom Jackson at 207-856-1276, x212.
